Professional Profile
Dr. Goode joined the College of Education and Social Sciences in 2015. He received a B.A. in History from Texas Christian University in 1978, an M.Ed. in Special Education from North Texas State University in 1986 and an Ed. D.. in Educational Leadership from the Texas Tech University in 2000.
Teaching and Related Service
Dr. Goode teaches a variety of Special Education Teacher Preparation and Educational Diagnostician courses including: Special Education Methods, Exceptionalities, Classroom Management of Individuals with Disabilities, Legal Issues in Special Education, Classroom Assessment of Individuals with Disabilities, and Transition Issues from School to Adult Life.
Dr. Goode has made numerous presentations on children with behavioral challenges and students with severe and profound disabilities.
Research and Creative Activity
Dr. Goode’s research interests include strength based assessment of and programs for students with disabilities; program evaluation of teacher preparation programs; and self-determination.
Personal Sketch
Dr. Goode lives in Lubbock with his wife Leisa. They have three children, all adults. One will be joining the Peace Corps, the second and third are enrolled in college. Dr. Goode loves movies; all types of music - especially the works of Aaron Copeland, folk music, and the songs of Warren Zevon; ties to keep pace walking and running with one of his dogs; and loves to read History and Biography.
