Professional Profile

Raised on a small cow/calf operation, has focused his career on cattle.  DVM from Oklahoma State University, MS from Purdue University and Professor Emeritus from the University of Nebraska Great Plains Veterinary Educational Center.  He comes to West Texas A&M University (WTAMU) as a Clinical Professor and the Director of the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Center located at WTAMU.

He is the past president of the Academy of Veterinary Consultants (AVC) and the winner of the AVC’s Veterinary Consultant of the Year.  Received the American Association of Bovine Practitioners (AABP) national award for Excellence in Preventive Medicine and their national award for Institutional Teaching, Research and Service Excellence.  And was honored by the Bovine Practitioner as one of the industries VIP’s for his contributions to the feedlot industry and as one of the "Top 20 Most Influential Veterinarians".  The National Cattlemen's Beef Association’s (NCBA) awarded him their Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) Educator of the Year.  Is the recipient of the Nebraska Cattlemen’s, and Nebraska Veterinary Medical Association’s Distinguished Service Awards.  Inducted into the Nebraska Hall of Agricultural Achievement and given the Distinguished Alumni award from his alma mater.  Serves on the NCBA Health and Well Being Committee, the NCBA’s BQA Advisory Board and serves on the Board of Directors of the both the Professional Animal Auditors Certification Organization (PAACO) and AABP.  He has served on the FDA’s Veterinary Medical Advisory Committee and the FDA Minor Species Drug Use Committee.

Personal Sketch

He and his wife started dating in a small high school where his mother-in-law and father-in-law represented 50% of the faculty.  4-H was the magnet that brought them together and family is the bond that keeps them secure.
