Professional Profile
Dr. Kim joined the Paul and Virginia Engler College of Business in 2024. He received an undergraduate degree in international studies focusing on international business from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in 2012, an M.S. in Strategic Management from Seoul National University in South Korea, and a Ph.D. in Strategic Management from the University of Pittsburgh in 2022. Before joining the College, he was a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the Center for Family Business and Entrepreneurship at North Dakota State University.
Teaching and Related Service
Dr. Kim teaches courses in Small Business Management and Principles of Management.
Research and Creative Activity
Dr. Kim’s research focuses on managing creativity and commercialization within the creative industry, as well as optimizing the allocation of human capital across business units. He is also interested in the NSF i-Corps program and its impact on entrepreneurial behavior.
Personal Sketch
Originally from South Korea, Dr. Kim has a passion for cooking and exploring new restaurants. His current favorites include Los Braceros, Thai Menu, and Fun Noodle Bar, and he enjoys a meticulously crafted pour-over coffee from 1330 Coffee Shop. Additionally, Dr. Kim has a keen interest in the video game industry, particularly in understanding the dynamics between large publishers like EA and smaller creative studios, which was a significant factor in his pursuit of a Ph.D.
