Professional Profile
Dr. Dedrick joined the Sports & Exercise Sciences Department in 2026. He earned a B.S. In Kinesiology from the University of North Texas in 1994, a MPT degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Texas Medical Branch-Galveston in 1996, and an ScD in Physical Therapy from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in 2005. He has worked as a faculty member in first professional, transitional, and terminal degreed programs at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, developed and led the DPT program at Campbell University, and served as a full-time faculty member at Oklahoma City University prior to joining West Texas A&M University.
Teaching and Related Service
Dr. Dedrick has developed, instructed, and assessed content related to musculoskeletal differential diagnosis, examination, and intervention for peripheral and axial conditions across the lifespan. He has taught screening for referral, diagnostic imaging, functional anatomy/biomechanics, surface anatomy, therapeutic modalities and exercise, clinical applied physiology, clinical reasoning, research critiques and interpretation, and gait analysis throughout his career. Dr. Dedrick completed his ScD research requirements in 2005 conducting and publishing an article titled "Effect of sex hormones on neuromuscular control patterns during landing" in 2008 in the Journal of Electromyography & Kinesiology.
Research and Creative Activity
Dr. Dedrick's research interests are in the areas of aging, sarcopenia as it relates to blood flow restrictions influence on muscle atrophy, gait, and balance parameters. The use of diagnostic ultrasound to measure muscle activity, tendon activity/healing, and muscle atrophy in musculoskeletal conditions.
