Why Students Choose a Spanish Minor

Adding a Spanish Minor opens doors professionally, academically, and personally. Our students consistently describe the program as one of the most meaningful parts of their college experience.

"I have always recognized the value and importance of being able to communicate with others to the point that I majored in Speech & Hearing Sciences. Thanks to the amazing faculty in WT's Spanish Program, I have expanded the number of people I can communicate with. I am truly thankful for this minor, as it has given me the tools to help even more people in the future once I start my career as an audiologist."

"A Spanish Minor made me feel more connected to my Mexican roots. After graduation there's a personal need for me to keep practicing, learning, and speaking Spanish to not lose it in an English dominated country. this minor lead ot a pathway to do study abroad in Peru, an experience I'll never forget and will cherish. Due to that, I would like to visit more parts of Hispanic American nations in the future."

"In my spare time, I have begun subsitute teaching. I worked just the other day with a boy with Down Syndrome who only spoke Spanish. This program has allowed me to communicate with him and make him feels seen and heard. I believe that will transfer seamlessly into my role as a medical student and physician. I have been privileged to go to Spain through WT's Spanish and honors programs and will be going to Costa Ric in January to continue advancing my Spanish to be the best physician I can be."
