WTAMU’s Stuart Authors Book Selected for Summer Readership Program

CANYON, Texas—A book written by West Texas A&M University instructor Claudia Stuart has been selected for the Humanities Texas Summer Readership program. The book is titled Poetry, Prose and Penguins.

Each year Humanities Texas invites friends and board members to recommend summer readings in thClaudia Stuarte humanities. The result is a wide-ranging list that includes fiction and nonfiction, new and old. This year colleagues from fellow state humanities councils also contributed recommendations for books related to the states they represent. The list of recommended books can be found in the Humanities Texas enewsletter at Humanitiestexas.org.

“In her inimitable style, Claudia Stuart combines reflective poetry, powerful prose and whimsical penguin illustrations in this latest collection of textual and visual creations,” Dr. Suzanne Monroe, WTAMU professor of education, said. “Ms. Stuart brings forward her spiritual commitment through reflections on personal life as well as pressing issues of the larger world around us. Her efforts to find and keep balance in life are manifested in the balanced arrangement of colorful language with black and while illustrations. The opening section of free verse and unique format encourages the reader to slowly and carefully navigate the witty ideas which serve as ‘food for thought.’”

Stuart is the author of several books of poetry. Her book Poetry, Prose and Pengins is available at local bookstores including Hastings, Barnes and Noble, WTAMU’s University Bookstore and through Kendall Hunt Publishing Company at kendallhunt.com/stuart_poetry.
