Statement

WTAMU identifies, reports, and corrects information system flaws; tests software, installs security-relevant software and firmware updates within an appropriate amount of time to ensure reliability and availability and incorporates flaw remediation into the organizational configuration management process.

Applicability

This Control applies to all West Texas A&M network information resources. The intended audience for this Control includes all information resource owners, custodians, and users of information resources.

Implementation

WTAMU information system administrators will implement flaw remediation procedures that:

Identify, report and correct system flaws
Test software and firmware updates related to flaw remediation for effectiveness and potential side effects prior to installation
Install security-relevant software updates in a timely manner based on risk decisions
Incorporate flaw remediation into configuration management process for the resource.
