Statement

WTAMU ensures proper control and protection of computer media to safeguard the security of the University’s data.  This includes data present on local system hard-drives, servers or external media such as tapes, CDs or disk drives.

Applicability

This Control applies to all West Texas A&M network information resources. The intended audience for this Control includes all information resource owners, custodians, and users of information resources.

Implementation

• Information system users should protect the confidentiality and integrity of data contained on removable storage media from unauthorized disclosure and modification throughout the media’s life, including disposal.
• Where possible WTAMU shall physically restrict access to information system media to authorized individuals.  This shall be done via controlled access rooms, and locking storage devices for non-sanitized media.
