Statement

The use of software on University owned devices must comply with Texas A&M System policy 29.01.02 Use of Licensed Software.

Applicability

This control applies to all West Texas A&M network information resources. The intended audience for this control includes all information resource owners, custodians, and users of information resources.

Implementation

Use of all software shall be in accordance with contract or license agreements and copyright laws
Periodic scans of desktop systems shall be conducted to track licensed software to ensure compliance with license quantities.
IT shall also use technology to prevent the use of peer-to-peer file sharing technology to ensure this capability is not used for unauthorized reproduction of copyrighted work.
