Statement

Before granting access to West Texas A&M University information systems, users receive notification at login acknowledging the usage conditions defined by the University.

Applicability

This Control applies to all West Texas A&M network information resources. The intended audience for this Control includes all information resource owners, custodians, and users of information resources.

Implementation

University systems shall display an acceptable use notification message or banner before allowing a user to login.
The login notification shall address the following items:

- Unauthorized use is prohibited;
- Usage may be subject to security testing and monitoring;
- Misuse may be subject to criminal prosecution;
- Users have no expectation of privacy except as otherwise provided by applicable privacy laws; and
- A reference to appropriate University Rule Information Security Rule(s).

The login message or banner shall remain on screen until the user acknowledges the conditions and take further actions to access the system.
