Lean Six Sigma Project

The Lean Six Sigma Team of Michael Crippen, Stephanie Loya, Amy Antunez, Darcy Lively, Laura Reyher and Tammy Stamps wanted to create a space where WT Faculty and Staff could learn how to live in the moment, to relax, eliminate stress and improve their health. Together they created the West Texas A&M University Mindful Meditation video. We are hoping to incorporate this same concept for students, especially those with test anxiety...Lean Six Sigma is not only about data, it is about improving the lives of those who walk with us on this life journey. Lean Six Sigma is data driven. It includes problem solving, organization, streamlining of processes, elimination of wastes and controlling variation among other things that make a business a success.  As you can see from the Mindful Meditation Project however, the methodology and concepts of Lean Six Sigma can be used together to improve lives as well as business and the bottom line. Six Sigma's DMAIC problem solving and Lean's PDCA continuous improvement method approach are both simple and logical. With teamwork, brainstorming, measuring, analyzing, improving and sustaining, the methodology of Lean Six Sigma is used in all types of business models. Through understanding and adhering to its simplistic nature, one can successfully solve manufacturing and service problems. The effectiveness and efficiency of LSS will produce savings of both money and time.

The combination of Six Sigma and Lean produces a system called Lean Six Sigma (LSS). LSS as defined by Michael L George in his book, Lean Six Sigma for Service, as a "business improvement methodology that maximizes shareholder value by achieving the fastest rate of improvement in customer satisfaction, cost, quality, process speed, and invested capital".
