We are so glad you have decided to join the Buff community! Students from colleges and universities across the country have experienced a smooth transition while transferring to WT. It is our desire that you share that experience. Our president, Dr. Walter Wendler, and the entire WT family, have committed to welcoming incoming transfer students and helping you feel right at home.
WTAMU will be hosting Transfer Information Sessions the second Friday of each month, designed to make your transition to Buff Life a great experience. Who is a Transfer?
Transfer students have earned 12 or more transferable college-level credit at a regionally accredited institution the fall semester or later after high school graduation. College credits earned prior to high school graduation (dual-credit) and courses taken immediately following high school graduation during the summer do not count towards the 12 needed to classify a student as a transfer student.
Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 Application Requirements
Transfer students who wish to be considered for admission should submit the following documentation:- Apply Texas Application
- $55 non-refundable application fee (pay online)
- Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended, including dual credit
The following required documents apply only to students who have completed fewer than 12 transferable academic hours from another regionally accredited college or university:
- Official high school transcripts.
- Entrance exam scores on the American College Test (ACT) or Scholastic Assessment Test I (SAT I).
Admission Decision
Applicants who hold an associate degree from a regionally accredited community college OR have a combination of transferable hours and GPA outlined below are guaranteed admission:
Transferable Hours GPAApplicants that do not meet admission guarantee criteria above will be evaluated under a competitive review process. Factors considered may include, but are not be limited to: types of courses taken, rigor of curriculum, pattern of progress, and potential for success.
12+ hours and 2.0 or greater cumulative
Students who are currently suspended from another college or university are not eligible for admission to West Texas A&M University.
Destination WT
Students who are transferring from Clarendon College, Frank Phillips College, or Amarillo College are eligible for Destination WT. Find more information about Destination WT here.

Undergraduate Appeals
Students have the right to appeal the University’s admission decision. An appeal to reconsider an admissions decision may or may not change the decision. There are generally two reasons that a decision will be changed: (1) extenuating circumstances that were previously undisclosed, or (2) if the academic record changed significantly from the information on file. Campus Housing
Students that apply for campus housing prior to the May 1 priority date will receive their room assignment no later than June 15. Learn more about campus housing..
