Dr. Sean Humpherys, Associate & Pickens Professor of Computer Information Systems
Take your place in the next generation of business leaders with a Master of Science in
Computer Information Systems & Business Analytics
The job market for graduates with knowledge of computing strategies, cyber-security, programming, and data mining has never been higher. Businesses need more qualified employees to transform their organizations into competitive enterprises. And when those employees also possess basic analytical skills and business acumen, you have the recipe for success and career advancement.
The MSCISBA Program at West Texas A&M does just that. We combine lectures, cases, individual and team projects, and oral presentations in our courses. It’s all hands-on, benefitting both the student and their employer. Along the way, students will improve their understanding of computer applications in the following areas:
- Quantitative analysis
- Data analytics
- Computing and data mining
- Web and mobile development
- Business integration and cybersecurity
- Technology planning and project management
Program Details
The time commitment to earn a master's degree can be daunting, and balancing a job at the same time is even more stressful. But don’t worry. We designed our graduate programs for working professionals like you by offering asynchronous programs that encourage you to complete coursework at a time that works for you.
You choose your course load each semester within four semesters each year:
- Fall - Last week of August through the end of November, 14 weeks
- Spring - Mid-January through the end of April, 14 weeks
- Summer 1 - Beginning of June through the first week of July
- Summer 2 - Second week of July through the third week of August
The MSCISBA degree offering is a STEM program available completely online or as a mix of on campus and online courses. Because of visa regulations, International Students with non-immigrant F1 visa status can only count one online class toward the required 9 credit hours full time class load per semester.
Degree Requirements
Requirements shown below are for the 2024-2025 catalog year.
Students seeking an MSCISBA degree must first establish proficiency in Statistics. This proficiency may be established by courses taken in an undergraduate program, by completing advanced standing examinations in these areas, or by taking CIDM 6300.
This leveling course will be built-in to the degree plan for students who need it. This means that the program could be 33 - 36 hours depending on leveling requirements.
