Professional Profile
Dr. Ming Xie is an assistant professor of public administration and emergency management administration. She received her Ph.D. in Public Administration from University of Nebraska at Omaha. She also received a Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology from Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Beijing, China.
Teaching and Related Service
Dr. Xie teaches courses in the areas of Emergency Management and nonprofit Management, including Introduction to Emergency Management and Social Vulnerability, Municipal Government, and Directed Research in Emergency Management.
Research and Creative Activity
Dr. Xie's research focuses on emergency management and social vulnerability, nonprofit accountability,and intercultural communication.
Dr. Xie is a member of the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organization and Voluntary Action
Dr. Xie is a member of the International Society of the Third Sector Research
Dr. Xie is a member of the International Communication Association and National Communication Association
Dr. Xie has published peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters in the field of public administration, emergency management, and intercultural communication.
She always seeks opportunities of community engagement through her research projects, to enhance the community's capacity in emergency prepardeness and community resilience.
Personal Sketch
Dr. Xie is married and living in Amarillo with her husband and son. She enjoys traveling with her family. The family has visited more than 20 national parks in the United States, and they are planning to visit more.
