The MPA at West Texas A&M University is intended for professionals pursuing opportunities for growth and promotion within government and non-profit agencies, as well as for professionals who wish to pursue graduate training immediately after completion of an undergraduate degree. For this 36-hour program, courses are offered 100% online to suit the needs of both traditional graduate students and working professionals. The program provides training in administration applicable to multiple entities and will offer concentrations in rural/local government and criminal justice.

Program Concentrations

The required core courses are designed to provide a grounding in administrative approaches, policy, methods, and theory, and provide the foundation for your area of concentration:

  • Rural & Local Governments: Courses in rural community demographics, rural non-profit organizations, and emergency management
  • Criminal Justice Administration: Courses in criminal justice administration and rural criminal justice
  • Generalist: Courses in administrative theory, data and information management, and government finance

  • Program is customizable: 21 credit hours are required with nine hours of prescribed electives in the student's chosen concentration, and 6 hours of free electives or six theses hours
