Professional Profile

Alexandra Muniz joined the faculty in department of Chemistry and Physics in the fall of 2018.  She received a B.S. and M.S. Biology from West Texas A&M University in 2012 and 2014, respectively. After obtaining her M.S. degree, Alexandra worked in the area of protein biochemistry research at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. She also served as an instructor of both biology and chemistry at Amarillo College (Amarillo, TX) from 2016-2018.

Teaching and Related Service

Alexandra Muniz teaches Introductory Chemistry as well as General Chemistry I&II.     

Alexandra Muniz has published in both the Biomedical Journal of Scientific and Technical Research and Bentham Science. She has presented her scientific findings at several national research conferences.  

Research and Creative Activity

Alexandra’s research interests involve the development of effective liposomal-based drugs to treat various types of cancer as well as analyzing cancer cell response to chemotherapeutics and mechanisms of chemoresistance.
