West Texas A&M University has been awarded a grant from the Department of Education’s TRIO programs to conduct an Upward Bound Math-Science program. The WTAMU Upward Bound Math-Science provides to each eligible student the assistance necessary to recognize and develop their potential in the area of math and science education and assist them in their pursuit of a post-secondary education in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) area. In addition, students learn computer technology, as well as English, foreign language, and study skills. Target schools are Hereford High School and Palo Duro High School.
The program's mission is to prepare low-income, first-generation college bound students by providing them the exposure to university research, networking opportunities with faculty and graduate students and activities that will enhance their knowledge in the math and science fields.
