A Message From The Office of Experiential Learning and The QEP

Welcome to the Office of Experiential Learning and the QEP at West Texas A&M University. A team of university faculty, staff and students developed WT’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) called Campus to Community (C2C). The driving force behind this QEP is to create a campus culture of active learners by fostering an institution that engages students in authentic, real-world settings and experiences. Our office seeks ways to enhance students’ experiences by focusing on 3 key pathways, service learning, undergraduate research, and internships. We want to engage in their communities, both while at WT and Beyond!

West Texas A&M University is excited for the release of our new Quality Enhancement Plan,Undergraduate Research Campus to Community: WT and Beyond. Universities all across the nation have Quality Enhancement Plans that focus on improving student learning. Campus to Community (C2C), specifically focuses on the use of experiential learning as the vehicle to develop students’ capacity to transfer theory into practice in situations, communities, and environments while at the University and beyond (graduate school, career, etc). Examples of experiential learning are service learning projects, undergraduate research and internships/practicums. These activities will help students learn, experience and reflect to help prepare them for their future.

Students will take what they have learned from text books and lectures and apply those theories and lessons to a real world setting. Specific classes will be designated as C2C classes and students will earn credit for taking those classes and will be recognized during their graduation ceremony.

 

 

National Society for Experiential Education (NSEE)

Experiential Learning Leadership Institute (ELLI)

Experiential Education Academy (EEA) 

Several of WTAMU’s Faculty and Staff have attended Experiential Education Academy (EEA) leadership sessions at Texas Women’s University, West Texas A&M University, ELLI, and NSEE's conferences. Once these Faculty and Staff members complete five EEA classes as part of the National Society for Experiential Education (NSEE), they will receive the EEA certification. This certification will provide these participants with the skills and knowledge to strengthen the experiential education here at WTAMU.
