WTAMU Student Wins Two Advertising Scholarships
CANYON, Texas—Stacy Saultz, a junior mass communication advertising/public relations major at West Texas A&M University, is the recipient of two highly competitive advertising scholarships.
She received a $2,500 national Advertising Hall of Fame Legacy Fund Scholarship awarded by the American Advertising Federation. The Legacy Scholarship was established to reflect the high ideals of the Advertising Hall of Fame and encourage future advertising leaders. Candidates are evaluated on their academic achievements and their volunteer efforts within the community.
The scholarship provides financial assistance to an undergraduate student in his or her junior year who demonstrates a strong desire to pursue a career in the advertising industry. This year’s corporate scholarship sponsors are General Motors, Hill Holiday, Macy’s and Southwest Airlines.
Saultz also was awarded a $1,500 Advertising Education Foundation of Houston (AEFH) Scholarships. It was one of 11 AEFH scholarships awarded to college sophomores, juniors and seniors pursuing undergraduate or post graduate degrees in advertising, communications, interactive marketing, journalism, radio/TV, commercial art, public relations or related fields.
“Stacy represents the best of our University. She is a critical thinker, a team player and understands the value of community service. I cannot think of a more deserving, yet humble, individual to receive these nationally competitive scholarships,” Lori Westermann, instructor of mass communication, said.
Saultz is a presenter and brand manager for the University’s National Student Advertising Team (Buffalo Advertising), a member of the student chapter of the American Advertising Federation, a mentor for the high school GEAR UP program and vice president of the WT chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success.
