WTAMU School of Music to Present 2018 Faculty Grand Recital


CANYON, Texas—The School of Music at West Texas A&M University will celebrate a century of music at its 34th annual Faculty Grand Recital at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26 at Mary Moody Northen Recital Hall.

Works by Brahms, Fauré, Strauss, Bizet and more are planned in solo and group performances. WTAMU's performing faculty members will present a variety of works to provide an evening of entertainment and gratitude to those who support the University’s music program. The recital also provides a showcase of faculty talent for prospective students.

Performances for the Faculty Grand Recital include a Sonata for tuba and piano featuring Jeremy Lewis, tuba, and Mila Abbasova, piano. Emmanuel Lopez, cello, and Denise Parr-Scanlin, piano, will perform a Brahms piece, and Jennifer Miller, harp, and Dr. Nicholas Scales, double bass, will present a work by Andrés Martin. Other performers include Vesselin Todorov, violin; James Barger, soprano saxophone; Helen Blackburn, flute; Suzanne Ramo, soprano; Choong-ha Nam, piano; John Shanks, tenor and alto trombone; Tina Carpenter, bassoon; and Susan Martin Tariq, vibraphone.
