WTAMU’s Whitten Qualifies for CNFR
CANYON, Texas—A West Texas A&M University student is headed to the College National Finals Rodeo June 8-17 thanks to an outstanding qualifying effort at the final college rodeo April 19-21 at Tarleton State University.
R.H. Whitten, a junior agriculture education major from New Deal, will make the trip to Casper, Wyo., for the finals in June after advancing in tie-down roping with a time of 19.6 at the Tarleton State University College Rodeo. He finished the year in third place with 445 points. The top three finishers in each single event earn the right to advance to the finals.
“R.H. is an outstanding student and cowboy,” Casey Crow, WTAMU rodeo coach, said. “He transferred here from New Mexico Junior College, and we are very blessed to have him at WT. We wish him the best in his endeavor at the CNFR.”
