KWTS to Host Local Creatives in ‘Not My 9 to 5’ Event

CANYON, Texas—The KWTS team at West Texas A&M University will celebrate local creatives when it hosts “Not My 9 to 5” from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5 at the Sybil B. Harrington Fine Arts Complex on campus. The event will focus on community members who are involved in creating art outside of their normal 9-to-5 jobs and will feature art exhibitions, poetry readings, live musical performances and a short films exposition along with a dessert and tea bar.

“It will be a great experience for our students to give back to the creative community by hosting this event,” Randy Ray, director of broadcast engineering, said.

Last year’s event was hosted by the Amarillo College Jazz Band and co-hosted by Texas High Plains Writers, The Amarillo Film Collective and local members of the C.S Lewis Foundation.

The KWTS team hopes to expand the attendance and expose a wider range of creative passions at this year’s “Not My 9 to 5.”

The event is free and open to the public, thanks to the sponsorship of local business owners who give their time, money and support to allow local artists to showcase their work. For more information, contact Ray at
