Archival Content: Links not maintained Texas Writers Exhibition

April 11- May 3, 2003
First floor, Cornette Library

Cornette Library will be the site of a traveling exhibition prepared by the Texas Council for the Humanities Resource Center. On display, April 11-May 3, the "Texas Writers" exhibit will feature the portraits, biographies and especially the words of between 70-75 writers on 22 freestanding panels. Some writers, like novelist/screenwriter Horton Foote, have earned a whole panel to themselves.

Labels written for the exhibit by Joe Holley take the viewer from writer to writer, and across themes as varied as Texas history and lore, poetry, mystery, fantasy and sports. Also represented are writers of pastoral literature, of urban life, of screenplays, and of children's stories that, taken together tell a story of the state as it has been experienced by Anglo, Mexican, and African American Texans.

A limited number of brochures containing an overview essay on Texas writers will accompany the exhibition, and souvenir bookmarks will be available.
