Staff Employee for July 2013 - Carolyn Ottoson
Department: Government Documents
What do you like most about working in the Cornette Library? Besides working with a special group of people, I get to help students, staff, and community members. The department I work in is like a library within a library, so the tasks are varied and rewarding. And any day with a complex research question to tackle is a very good day.
What is your favorite book(s)/author? There are so many, but some of my favorites are Pride and Prejudice, The Handmaid's Tale, The Help, Me Talk Pretty One Day, the Lincoln Lawyer series by Michael Connelly, and the authors Mary Roach, Bill Bryson, Sue Grafton, J.K. Rowling, and Kathy Reichs.
What is your favorite local attraction? The big sky of the Texas panhandle on a cloudless day. Also the Amarillo Botanical Gardens. Although the outside plants are rebounding from the May hailstorm, the tropical conservatory was untouched.
Rules to live by: Do the right thing.
You might be surprised to know that I: Visited East Berlin before the Berlin Wall came down.
