Professional Profile

Dr. Bell joined the Department of Political Science and Criminal Justice in 2016. She received a B.S. in Political Science from the University of Texas at Tyler in 1999, a Master’s of Public Administration from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2003 and a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2015. Currently, Dr. Bell serves as an Assistant Professor of Political Science with WTAMU.

Teaching and Related Service

Dr. Bell teaches courses in comparative politics, the Politics of the Middle East, American national government, American foreign policy and political violence.

Dr. Bell is the author of “Terrorist Assassinations and Target Selection” forthcoming in the Studies in Conflict and Terrorism journal in 2017.

Dr. Bell is a member of the International Studies Association, the Midwest Political Science Association and Women in International Security.

Research and Creative Activity

Dr. Bell’s research interests include political assassinations, terrorism, and the Middle East. Her current research examines political and societal instability in the aftermath of terrorist assassinations in the Middle East and Africa, as well as examining the rhetoric of Arab political leaders in the aftermath of terrorist events. Dr. Bell’s research encompasses both qualitative and quantitative methods and cuts across both the international relations and comparative politics subfields.

Personal Sketch

Dr. Bell is a fourth generation Texan and is happy to return home after spending a year in South Carolina. She enjoys traveling to any coastal location, as well as trips to east Texas to visit her adult daughter, Devon.
