What is the I am WT program?
I am WT is West Texas A&M University’s faculty and staff giving program, organized through the Department of Institutional Advancement and Office of Annual Giving.

How is the I am WT program being funded?
The majority of I am WT expenses are handled through the annual fund budget. In addition, there are several donors who have chosen for their contributions to underwrite the campaign.

Why should I give to the I am WT program?
In 1974, the state funded 74 percent of our total budget. Today state funding accounts for approximately 33 percent of our total and present budget.  More cuts were made on the upcoming budget. This makes it necessary for WT to seek assistance from donors in order to absorb some of the impact from the decrease in state funding.

I give to athletics, the WT Alumni Association and I’d like to join the President’s Circle. Is all of this part of I am WT?
Yes! On your pledge form, simply identify your areas of interest, levels of membership and/or giving. You can do a one-time gift, monthly draft or payroll deduction. It can all be combined into one donation with the appropriate and specified designations.

Is my gift really needed?
Yes it is!  Your annual giving will help us sustain the quality of programs offered and enable us to improve services and opportunities for years to come.  It also shows the community and other giving entities that supporting WTAMU is important to those closest to us.  Every dollar counts and every dollar helps.

How can you ask me to give when times are so tight?
With state appropriations being lower, it is imperative for WT to seek support from our faculty, staff, alumni and supporters to help us move forward. If those closest to WT set a pattern of giving, then we can genuinely ask our alumni and supporters to join us.

What can I give to?
Within the I am WT program, an individual will be able to give to whatever area on campus he/she would like to give. The pledge form has several areas you might consider but it is not a complete list.  Give to what you’re passionate about.

Where do I send my gift?
Gifts can be sent through campus mail to the WTAMU Office of Annual Giving, attn.: Barbara Palmer, Buffalo Courts Alumni Center.  You can bring it by personally, or we will pick it up. Gifts may also be taken to Advancement Services, OM209.  Please specify that it is an I am WT gift.

What is the annual fund?
The annual fund is a year-round fundraising program that raises money for scholarships, program and faculty development, and facilities improvement. The mission of the WTAMU Annual Fund is to develop a culture of giving back to the University through encouraging annual gifts by educating alumni, faculty, staff, students and parents concerning the needs of the University and gaining their involvement in all aspects of University life.

What does it cost to run WTAMU?
In 2016-2017, our total budget was $138,334,782.

Can I give to athletics?
Absolutely! You choose where your donation goes. Athletics, Panhandle Plains Historical Museum, campus beautification, your Alumni Association dues - it all counts, it's all appreciated and it's all a part of showing you are WT!

How is WT improving academic and student life?
WT is constantly working to improve the quality of student life and academics for its students. We are improving current facilities to provide state-of-the-art learning experiences as well as building new ones. Campus looks beautiful, enrollment is increasing and WT is working hard to improve all areas of campus life.

What are the sources of WT’s income?
WT receives $49,590,178 from the state. We generate $52,549,553 in tuition and fee revenue and $36,195,051 in other locally generated funds.

How much student financial assistance does WT provide each year?
WT awards more than $4 million each year in scholarships to new and continuing students, with the average award totaling $1,200 to $1,500 each year.

How does the I am WT program impact SECC (State Employee Chartable Campaign)?
The I am WT program has been structured in such a way that it will not detract from the SECC which takes place in October. Employees are encouraged to give to WT through the I am WT program in order for us to receive the maximum benefit. We encourage employees to continue to give to SECC to support WT and many other charitable organizations.

What about SSC (SSC Service Solutions/Compass Group USA)?
SSC employees are an integral part of the WTAMU family. SSC employees are very much included in the I am WT campaign. SSC employees may not use payroll deduction, but are able to designate their gift and can set up a bank draft for monthly contributions.
