Professional Profile

Mr. Lefevre joined the faculty of the West Texas A&M University School of Music in 1987. He received a Bachelor of Music degree from West Texas State University in 1979, and a Master of Music degree from the University of Michigan in 1982. In 2008, Lefevre received a Faculty Excellence Award from the Sybil B. Harrington College of Fine Arts and Humanities, and was a recipient of the Faculty Teaching Excellence Award, presented annually to distinguished faculty by West Texas A&M University in 2003.

Teaching and Related Service

Mr. Lefevre is the Director of Bands at West Texas A&M University. He teaches classes in woodwinds and conducting to undergraduate students. Lefevre is a professor of graduate conducting and wind pedagogy classes.

Under his direction, the WTAMU Symphonic Band has performed four times at the Texas Music Educators Association Conference. In 2012, the Symphonic Band was featured at the Southwest Regional Conference for the College Band Director’s National Association in San Antonio. In 2009, the Symphonic Band was invited to perform at the National Conference for the College Band Director’s National Association in Austin. In addition, the Symphonic Band will make its second appearance at the 2017 National College Band Director’s National Association in Kansas City, Missouri.

Personal Sketch

Mr. Lefevre lives in Canyon with his wife Lee Ann who is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Amarillo, and their son Braden, who is the drum major of the Canyon High School Eagle Marching Band and a two-year Texas All-State Saxophonist.
