Dr. Weaver joined the West Texas A&M University administration as vice president for institutional advancement in June 2008. He formerly served as vice president for university relations at Northeastern State University (1998-2008) in Tahlequah, Okla.
As vice president for institutional advancement at WTAMU, Weaver oversees the Office of Development and Major Gifts, the Annual Fund, Alumni Relations, the Office of Communication and Marketing Services, and the WTAMU Foundation.
Weaver earned his undergraduate degree from Oklahoma Panhandle State University, master’s degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University and a Ph.D. in organizational leadership from the University of Oklahoma. He joined the administration at Northeastern State University in 1996 and served as director of public relations before being named vice president for university relations in 1998.
He previously was sports editor and general reporter for the McAlester (Oklahoma) News Capitol, assistant director of public relations/media coordinator at Southeastern Oklahoma State University and public relations specialist for Lucent Technologies.
Neal and Kristi Weaver have three sons, a 15-year-old and twins who are 12.
