WTAMU Speech and Hearing Clinic Welcome West Texas A&M University’s Speech and Hearing clinic offers comprehensive speech, language, hearing, and voice evaluation and intervention for all ages. Insurance: Medicaid, Medicare, Atena, United Heath Care, BXBS are accepted. Referrals are accepted from private and professional agencies, school districts, physicians, individuals, and family members. Graduate student clinicians are supervised by licensed and certified Speech-Language Pathlogists while providing direct care services. Email at: wtclinic@mail.wtamu.edu Services Provided Child Speech and Language Evaluations and Therapy including: - Developmental language – determining skills in understanding and using language
- Articulation – speech sound productions
- Fluency – flow and rate of speech (stuttering)
- Voice – quality of voice, consistent hoarseness, vocal abuse and misuse, resonance (due to cleft palate)
- Feeding – oral motor treatments and management of feeding issues due to muscle control (usually seen with premature infants, children with CP, Cleft Palate, Down syndrome
- Literacy – reading difficulties that are related to language learning difficulties
- Social language skills – children with Autism to work on appropriate social skills
- Screenings for hearing, language and speech (including voice, and articulation)
- Full audiological assessments (at WT clinic only)
- Augmentative and alternative communication evaluation, therapy and training – using assistive devices
Adult Speech and Language Evaluations and Therapy Including: - Cognitive therapy - following stroke, head injury
- Swallowing therapy - following stroke or other trauma
- Voice therapy – due to vocal trauma, disease and abuse, following laryngectomy
- Hearing screenings
- Full audiological assessments (at WT clinic only)
- Hearing Devices (amplification)
- Custom Hearing Protection/Swim plugs
- Accent reduction (not billable under insurance)
