DESI Student Organization
The WTAMU Desi Student Organization is a vital part of our university community which is dedicated to excellence in teaching, excellence in research, and excellence in service. WTAMU is committed to ensuring that you have opportunities to succeed in your academic, extracurricular, social and civic endeavors, providing experiences that will prepare you for success throughout your personal and professional life.
WTAMU is a friendly campus where faculty members are accessible, administrators are approachable, and names are still more important than numbers. WTAMU students enjoy a university atmosphere that is committed to personal growth, teaching excellence, and programs that are engaging and challenging. Along with your academic endeavors comes a host of organizations, activities, and events to broaden your horizons. The WTAMU Desi Student Organization was founded in 2010 and provides frequent opportunities for Desi students and their classmates to enjoy being together and fully participate in campus and community life. The organization shares the culture of the subcontinent with the campus community and hosts annual celebrations including Holi and Diwali. A Hindu temple, an Islamic mosque, and a Buddhist wat are located in the nearby community of Amarillo, Texas. Many members of the Desi Student Organization are active in the WTAMU Cricket Club.
