NOTE: Graduate students in art may concentrate in the areas of painting, drawing, ceramics, metalsmithing/jewelry, printmaking, sculpture, glass, computer art, two dimensional art, three-dimensional art and art education.
Program Application Requirements
For all graduate art programs, prospective students must apply to the University, apply to the graduate school and then complete the following steps for art program approval:

General Information About Graduate Student Status
Students accepted into the art graduate program will be admitted into the M.A. degree program. All graduate students are reviewed each semester and prior to submission of their individual plan of study. Semester reviews will determine whether an art graduate student will remain in the program and whether they will remain as a M.A. degree candidate or a M.F.A. degree candidate.
(Consideration for M.F.A. candidacy is possible after completion of 24 hours.) All graduate students are required to work very closely with their major professor in order to schedule each semester’s review, which will normally take place around Nov. 10 for the fall semester and April 10 for the spring semester.
For those graduate students who lack experience or the appropriate undergraduate degree, probationary status and leveling course work is available. Please consult with your studio professor about leveling requirements and probationary status as an art graduate student.
