Rick joined the Sport and Exercise Sciences Department as an Instructor in 2005. He received a B.S. in Health, Physical Education and Recreation from Panhandle State University in 1987 and a M.Ed. from Northeastern State University in 1991.
Haasl teaches courses in pedagogy including Principles of Instruction and Instructional Methodology. Haasl also teaches courses in the SES Graduate Program including Legal and Ethical Issues, Sport Marketing and Leadership in Sport Administration.
Haasl also serves as an advisor to more than 60 advisees who are majoring in both SES and Health Sciences.
Haasl also serves as a Faculty Advisor in the Advising Services Department and as the Faculty Sponsor for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Haasl's research interests include leadership, communication and all areas of sport management. His favorite creative activities are writing and public speaking.
Haasl lives in southwest Amarillo with his wife Lora. Lora is the Supervisor of IITL for West Texas A&M University. Their daughter, Terra, is married (Miles) and is a Pediatric Dentist in Dallas, Texas. Rick has a passion for ministry. He enjoys seeking Jesus, spending time with his family, being at home and sports.
