Major in Musical Theatre (Major Code: 215)

Administered by the Department of Art, Theatre and Dance, this interdisciplinary performance degree requires development and study in theatre (33 hours), music (21 hours) and dance (11 hours).

Required Courses

  • Core curriculum requirements; (42 hours).
  • Bachelor of arts requirements; (eight hours).

Dance

  • DANC 1070, 2370; (six hours).
  • DANC 3211, 3212, 4122; (five hours).

Music

  • MUSI 1180, 1374, 3312, 4262; (nine hours).
  • MUAP 1081 (two credit hours for four semesters); (eight hours).
  • MUAP 3081 (two credit hours for two semesters); (four hours).

Theatre

  • THRE 1120 (3), 1351, 1352, 1371, 2374, 3199 (3), 3312, 3351, 3374, 4312, 4351.

Electives

  • Nine hours electives (four of which must be advanced).

NOTE: All music theatre majors are required to sign up for one credit hour of musical theatre practicum for six semesters.
