Cuevas' research interests include cultural diversity, cultural competence and racial identity formation, especially related to social work education and practice.
She also researches effective instruction of first year students to benefit WTAMU's college success courses.
Cuevas lives in Canyon with her husband Carlos and their two "always on the go" school-age children, Nicholas and Magee. She enjoys reading, poker, time with friends and finding new ways to relax so that she can use the techniques as examples of "self-care" for her students.
