Curriculum and Instruction (36 hours)

Admission Requirements

An applicant must meet the following requirements:

  • Meet University Graduate School admission requirements,
  • Have a 3.0 undergraduate grade point average, and
  • Have previously taken at least 18 hours of education courses.

Required Curriculum and Instruction Courses (9 hours)

  • EDPD 6305 Curriculum Theory and Analysis 3
  • EDPD 6307 Curriculum History, Reforms and Innovations 3
  • EDPD 6310 Instructional Strategies 3

Required Education Graduate Core Courses (9 hours):

  • EDPD 6303 Education Research 3
  • Three hours from:
    • EDPD 6304 Multicultural Education 3
    • EDPD 6385 International Studies 3
    • COUN 6330 Cross-cultural Counseling 3
  • Three hours from:
    • EDPD 6308 Service Learning 3
    • EDLD 6311 Educational Leadership and Group Dynamics 3
    • EDPD 6329 Human Development 3

Other Degree Requirements (18 hours)

  • The student and a graduate adviser plan a curriculum of 36 hours, of which 24 hours will be in courses numbered 6000 and above. A minimum of 6 hours and maximum of 18 hours must be in field(s) other than education.

Comprehensive Examination

In addition, curriculum and instruction students are required to pass a comprehensive examination during or after their last semester of course work.
