Master of Education (M.Ed.) Degree

Major in Education Curriculum and Instruction (Major Code: 5455)

 
Admission Process:
  1. Apply to the University and Graduate School;
  2. Meet the current catalog specifications for undergraduate GPA requirements;
  3. Take the GRE and have the scores sent to the WT Graduate School;
  4. Make an appointment with Dr. Mark Riney to create a Program of Study after being accepted by the Graduate School.

Program of Study:

The student and an adviser plan a program of study of thirty-six hours of graduate level courses, and at least twenty-four hours must be listed at the 6000 level and above. In addition to eighteen hours of core courses listed below, a minimum of six hours and maximum of eighteen hours must be in a field(s) other than education.

Curriculum Theory and Analysis EDPD 6305
Instructional Strategies EDPD 6310
Service Learning EDAD 6308
Educational leadership and Group Dynamics EDAD 6311

Also, note that Educational Research EDPD 6303 should be taken within the first nine hours of courses.

Other Requirements:

Students must perform well academically according to the guidelines of the Graduate School to remain in the Curriculum and Instruction program. Also, all students must pass a four hour written comprehensive examination during their final semester of course work in additional to completing all designated courses for their respective degrees.
