Audition for the Dance Program

 

Dance Days

November 30, 2012 and April 5, 2013:

A day that is specifically tailored to prospective students allowing them to partake of the dance program at its busiest time of the semester; performance weekend. The dates are as follows: November 30, 2012, which will concede with our Annual Student Dance Concert: Falling into Dance and April 5, 2012 –Portraits of Dance, our annual faculty and guest artist concert.

Prospective Students

Prospective Students will have an opportunity to meet with the Director of the Dance Program, and Department Head of Art, Theatre, and Dance. They will then take a short class with two faculty members, be offered refreshments, a tour of the facilities, and Question and Answer with the faculty and current dance students. After a short dinner break the students will then be taken into the theatre where they will take company warm up class on stage followed by the viewing of the concert.

The November 30 concert will allow prospective students to view the work of the current dance majors both choreographically and dancing. This concert is completely student generated and serves as the Senior Capstone project for the dance major. The April 5 show will entertain these prospective students with works from Brandon J. Aiken, Artistic Director and Founder of ENVY Dance Company - a contemporary hip hop company based in LA and Steven Norman, past dancer with San Francisco Ballet and current freelance master teacher and choreographer in the Chicago land area. These two days will allow perspective students to get a feel of the program at its height as the dancers prepare for performance. In addition, these days will serve as placement and scholarship audition. To reserve a spot for either day please contact the Director of the Program:
