Accreditation

West Texas A&M University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, a regional agency recognized by the United States Department of Education. This is the highest accreditation a university can receive and signifies that WTAMU has "a purpose appropriate to higher education and the resources, programs and services sufficient to accomplish and sustain that purpose."

The WTAMU nursing program is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and approved by the Texas Board of Nursing

The Department of Nursing is hosting an accreditation site visit on April 20-22, 2009 by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. Comments concerning the programs qualifications for accreditation status may be submitted in writing to:

The WTAMU communication disorders program is fully accredited by the Council of Accreditation o fthe American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

The WTAMU athletic training program is fully accredited by the Council of Accreditation of Athletic Training Education.
