Professional Profile

Dr. Macaulay joined the Political Science department at the College of Education and Social Sciences in 2017. He received his B.A. in Political Science and International Relations (with a minor in Spanish) from the University of California at Davis in 2011. He then received his Ph.D. from the University of North Texas in 2017.

Teaching and Related Service

Dr. Macaulay teaches American Government, International Relations, and Comparative Government. He has also taught Asian Politics, European Politics, and North American Politics. He is faculty advisor for the West Texas Model United Nations club, and encourages everyone to join!


Dr. Macaulay will be leading a group in Summer 2019 to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, as part of the Texas A&M System Colleges of Education Mexico Education Collaborative program. He will also be leading a group to India in the Winter of 2019, and to Northern China in the Summer of 2019.

Research and Creative Activity

Dr. Macaulay’s research interests include security studies in International Relations, especially territorial conflict and interstate conflict. He is also interested in ethnic conflict and conflict over natural resources, with an expanding research interest in civil wars and intrastate conflict.

Personal Sketch

Dr. Macaulay is from San Francisco, California, but lived in Texas for six years before joining WT. As such, he is a fan of the San Francisco Giants and 49ers, as well as the San Jose Sharks. He enjoys traveling the world with his wife Maricruz and gaming where spare time permits.
