West Texas A&M University offers two online graduate programs that allow degreed individuals to obtain Texas teacher certification while earning credit toward a Master of Arts in Teaching degree. The Panhandle Alternative Certification for Educators (PACE) and Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Certification (P-B Cert) programs, approved by the Texas Education Agency and U.S. Department of Education, prepare quality candidates for teaching positions in Texas school districts. Individuals who hold a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or univeristy or are scheduled to receive a bachelor's degree are allowed to demonstrate content proficiency for possible admisstion into the PACE or P-B Cert program by taking the TExES content exam through the Pre-Admission Content Tests, or PACT, system. Potential candidates are encouraged to follow the PACT Test Registration procedures (go to ETS, select "New User" then "no TEA ID" then "PACT" option) and take the content exam for the target certificate as early as possible in the process.
