Westermann joined the Department of Communication in 2003. She received a B.A. in mass communication from Mississippi College and a M.A. in mass communication from Southwestern Theological Seminary. Her industry career includes positions with network affiliates, the satellite cable industry, advertising agencies and corporate public relations efforts.
Westermann teaches Advertising Principles, Public Relations and Advertising Research, Media Sales and Planning, Advertising Copywriting, Advertising Campaigns, Desktop Publishing and Digital Photography.
She helped create The Eternal Flame, the University year-in-review publication and currently serves as the faculty adviser for the student chapter of the American Advertising Federation and the Texas Public Relations Society.
Westermann has garnered numerous awards for her advertising copywriting and broadcast producer services.
Most recently, Westermann served as a freelance media consultant specializing in corporate video and interactive communication programs.
Her current creative activities include digital imaging and web-based communications.
Westermann enjoys travel photography, hiking, biking and keeping up with her two children.
