She received a bachelor's of business administration in accounting from Texas A&M University in 1976 and joined the accounting firm of Price Waterhouse (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) in Houston. She returned to Texas A&M and received an M.B.A. in accounting in 1979. Dr. Friske worked for another accounting firm, Main Hurdman (now KPMG), and in the financial services industry in Houston. She received her Ph.D. in accounting from Texas A&M in 1994 and was an assistant professor of accounting at New Mexico State University for two years. Dr. Friske is a Texas licensed Certified Public Accountant. Teaching and Related Service Dr. Friske teaches various graduate and undergraduate courses in financial accounting, auditing, and petroleum accounting. Dr. Friske is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Texas Society of CPAs, and the American Accounting Association. Research and Creative Activity Dr. Friske’s publications include articles in Tax Advisor, Journal of Accountancy, Practical Tax Strategies, Oil, Gas and Energy Quarterly, and Journal of Forensic Accounting as an author or co-author. Her research interests include tax shelter issues, accounting ethics and education issues. Personal Sketch Dr. Friske has a grown son in graduate school and two cats. She enjoys shopping for treasures in antique and consignment stores, planning the ultimate home makeover, and reading. |
