Professional Profile

Owens earned his B.B.A. in finance in 1964 and his M.B.A. in finance in 1965 from West Texas A&M University. He earned his D.B.A. in finance from the Graduate School of Business Administration at Harvard University in Boston, Mass., in 1971.

Teaching and Related Service

Owens teaches graduate level Corporate Finance and Finance Theory both in the physical classroom and online.

1996-2007:  National Community Bank School, taught two topics to first year students in an executive education experience for community bankers at Texas Tech University. Courses involved interest rate risk management and pricing bank services.

1978-2007:  Pacific Coast Banking School, created and taught approximately 250 banking executives in a two week graduate banking school. Responsibility with a first year required course in Financial Principles and a second or third year elective course in International Finance.

Personal Sketch

Owens has taught at WTAMU since 1978. He has enjoyed all of the students through the years.  He's now teaching the children of former students which, he says, means he's been here a long time.
