He earned his D.B.A. in finance from the Graduate School of Business Administration at Harvard University in Boston, Mass., in 1971. Teaching and Related Service Owens teaches graduate level Corporate Finance and Finance Theory both in the physical classroom and online. 1996-2007: National Community Bank School, taught two topics to first year students in an executive education experience for community bankers at Texas Tech University. Courses involved interest rate risk management and pricing bank services. 1978-2007: Pacific Coast Banking School, created and taught approximately 250 banking executives in a two week graduate banking school.
