Welcome

Vision Statement

As is the case with all Internet based technologies used in education, it is hoped that all the strengths of this medium of communication will be brought to bear in the publishing of The Journal of Multiculturalism in Education. The Internet-based journal is not subject to the same limitations that have traditionally constrained printed journals. Chief among these limitations is that of the cost of paper. There are no limitations to the size of The Journal of Multiculturalism in Education other than the number of quality submissions from the readership. The Journal of Multiculturalism in Education will publish four editions per year (Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter) and authors whose submission have been accepted for publication will be published in the next scheduled volume.

The other main strength to be gained through the use of electronic media is that of efficiency of communication. All manuscripts will be submitted in electronic form to the editorial board through this web site. Those submissions will then be forwarded to members of the board for review via email attachment. The reviews will be returned to The Journal of Multiculturalism in Education editorial offices and notification will be sent to authors also via email.

It is hoped that the use of electronic means of communication will significantly shorten the time needed to accomplish editorial review and (if merited) publishing of submitted manuscripts.

Mission of the Journal

The Journal of Multiculturalism in Education is a peer reviewed professional research journal whose primary purpose is the collection and dissemination of Multiculturalism in Education research, theory, and practice on all multiculturally related aspects of primary, secondary, and post-secondary education around the world.

This World Wide Web-based journal provides researchers, educators, and others interested in the infusion of multiculturalism in teaching, research and practice a forum for publishing reports of multiculturalism in educational research, effective practice, and theory. Additionally, The Journal of Multiculturalism in Education will publish relevant Internet web site, software, and book reviews.

Scope of the Journal

The Journal of Multiculturalism in Education solicits the submission of manuscripts that take as their topic the full range of Multiculturally related issues in primary, secondary and higher education worldwide. It is the hope of the editorial board that reports of quality research and practice will be published from schools around the world.

The Journal of Multiculturalism in Education is published on the World Wide Web rather than in the traditional format for two main reasons.

  1. It is essential that a free exchange of ideas be promoted in the area of Multiculturally related issues in education. To better facilitate the free exchange of ideas, all authors world-wide are encouraged to submit their theory, research, and practice works. These manuscripts will be submitted and published electronically. All who visit The Journal of Multiculturalism in Education website will have access to read the published articles. This free availability of articles to readers will lead to a free world-wide dissemination of articles regardless of the reader's access to university library facilities.
  2. It is also essential in the 21st century that other methods of communication be employed in the professional journal in addition to simple text. The electronic formatting of The Journal of Multiculturalism in Education will allow authors to incorporate into their submissions World Wide Web linked resources, and graphics both static and video.
