Ms. Abril Vazquez, a WTAMU alum of the BSW and MSSW Programs ('13 and '15) was recently highlighted in the Alumni Association's newsletter. Ms. Vazquez was honored as a "Rising Star" by Los Barrios of Amarillo for her work with the Hope and Healing Place. During her internship, Ms. Vazquez created and delivered the first Spanish grief support group at Hope and Healing. She is active in her community, and states "I love this town and I just want to make sure I give back twice as much as what was given to me." Way to go!

Ms. Desire' Winslow, MSSW Student, was awarded a $5,000.00 Ima Hogg scholarship from the Hogg Foundation. The scholarship recognizes academic achievement for students that demonstrate a strong commitment to providing mental health services in Texas following their graduation.

The Social Work Club coordinated the Lighting up Lives project in December, 2015, that provides gifts to wards of the State of Texas.
