Dance Days

November 7, 2014 and April 10, 2014:

A day that is specifically tailored to prospective students allowing them to partake of the dance program at its busiest time of the semester; performance weekend. The dates are as follows: Dance Day November 7, 2014, which will coincide with our Annual Student Dance Concert: "Falling into Dance" Nov 6-8, 2014. Our second Dance Day is April 10, 2015, coinciding with "Portraits of Dance", our annual faculty and guest artist concert April 8-11, 2015.

Prospective Students

Prospective Students will have an opportunity to meet with the Director of the Dance Program, and Department Head of Art, Theatre, and Dance. They will then take a short class with two faculty members, be offered refreshments, a tour of the facilities, and Question and Answer with the faculty and current dance students. After a short dinner break the students will then be taken into the theatre where they will take company warm up class on stage followed by the viewing of the concert.

The November 7 concert will allow prospective students to view the work of the current dance majors both choreographically and dancing. This concert is completely student generated and serves as the Senior Capstone project for the dance major. The April 10 show will entertain these prospective students with works from Katharyn Horne former principal dancer with Metropolitan Opera Ballet and American Ballet Theatre, Britney Rush WTAMU Dance graduate formerly with Dallas Black Dance Theatre now freelance dance artist in the Dallas Fort Worth Area, Bill DeYoung Professor of Dance University of Michigan, and Steven Norman, past dancer with San Francisco Ballet and current freelance master teacher and choreographer in the Chicago land area.
