Department of
Agricultural Sciences

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Department of Agricultural Sciences. We are committed to providing students outstanding training in teaching, research and service areas related to agriculture. Faculty and staff within the Department are dedicated to preparing students for success in the marketplace after graduation. There is no better place in the United States to study agriculture than the Texas Panhandle where agriculture is a way of life. The Department of Agricultural Sciences prides itself on our working relationships with the agricultural industries we serve.

Students can develop their academic interests while pursuing degrees in Agribusiness, Agricultural Business and Economics, Agriculture (Teacher Certification and Non-certification options) Agricultural Media and Communication, Animal Science, Equine Industry and Business,  Plant, Soil and Environmental Science and a pre-professional program in Pre-Veterinary Medicine. Students are also encouraged to participate in the many co- and extracurricular activities aimed at providing invaluable leadership and personal development skills. These activities include our nationally competitive teams (Equestrian, Horse Judging, Livestock Judging, Meats Judging, Land Judging, Linnaean, Soils and Quiz Bowl teams) and departmental student organizations (Agricultural Ambassadors, Alpha Zeta, Agribusiness, Block and Bridle, Collegiate FFA, Farm and Ranch, Horsemen's Association and Pre-Vet).

We realize that you have options in higher education, and we hope that you will make the WTAMU Department of Agricultural Sciences your "First Choice" for obtaining your college education. Thanks for visiting our web pages, and please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or to set up a visit of our campus.
