| March 5, 2013 COPY BY: Rana McDonald, 806-651-2129, rmcdonald@wtamu.edu WTAMU Livestock Judging Team Takes Fourth at San Antonio Event CANYON, Texas—The West Texas A&M University livestock judging team took an overall fourth-place finish at the San Antonio Livestock Exposition Feb. 23 in San Antonio. The team placed third overall in goats, fourth in swine and fifth in sheep, cattle and reasons. In individual standings, team member Kaycee Carpenter, a junior plant, soil and environmental science major from Mountain View, Wyo., was named high individual in cattle and fifth in sheep and reasons. After tying for second overall, Carpenter finished in third-place. Rhet Long, a junior animal science major from Vernal, Utah, placed third in goats. Texas A&M University placed first in overall team standings, followed by Texas Tech University in second and Oklahoma State University in third. WTAMU was in fourth place and Angelo State University was in fifth place to round out the top five teams at the Exposition. The six-member team, coached by Marcus Arnold and assistants Jeff Long and Karl Miller, is competing throughout the spring semester and will finish o ut its competitive season at Houston’s annual Livestock Show and Rodeo Intercollegiate Livestock Judging Contest.
