Got Your 6 in Texas: Military Friendly Starts Here from The Texas A&M University System on Vimeo.

West Texas A&M University has been named one of the 2012 top military-friendly universities by G.I. Jobs magazine. The magazine produces the “Top Military-Friendly Colleges and Universities Guide” annually to provide pertinent information about academic programs available for prospective military students.

“Enrollments of active duty military, national guard and reserve personnel, veterans and their dependents have increased considerably over the past few years, up approximately 42 percent since 2008,” Dan Garcia, vice president for enrollment management, said. “Recognition of WT as a top military-friendly university is an honor, and further evidence that the University is helping to meet the educational needs of these soldiers and their families.”

WTAMU’s inclusion in the guide provides information about the many opportunities available for military students at the University. Opportunities that mark the University as a military-friendly institution include scholarships, waivers and exemptions for dependents, tuition assistance, transferability of credits and online degree offerings. "There are various educational benefits programs for service members and their dependents to take advantage of" said Leo Reid, coordinator of veterans services, "and with our commitment to excellence, the aim is to continue to provide a quality education as well as improve the relationships we have with area veterans, active military, and dependents".
