WTAMU Student Named Officer for NACT

CANYON, Texas—Reba Underwood, a senior agricultural media and communications major at West Texas A&M University, will serve as secretary/treasurer for the National Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow (NACT) during the 2013-2014 term. She is the first WTAMU student to serve on the national organization’s team of officers. Reba Underwood

As secretary/treasurer, Underwood will use her experience to raise funds for the organization. NACT is currently fund raising to meet the needs of the members and the organization.

NACT works to build relationships among agricultural communication professionals and college students and faculty to provide professional and academic development for members and promote agriculture through communications efforts.

National officers will travel up to three times a year and funds raised by Underwood and the other officers will help pay for much of that cost. What the national officer team cannot raise, they will have to pay for or ask their local ACT chapters to help support the cost.

Underwood, a native of Idalou, has served WTAMU’s ACT chapter as a past president and has participated in NACT for four years.
In addition to her involvement with ACT, Underwood is a member of Collegiate FFA, serves as a campus tour guide, a transfer student mentor and works in WTAMU’s Office of Communications and Marketing. She also is a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success, the Livestock Publications Council, American Agricultural Editors Association and the Agricultural Relations Council. This year she was named a 2013 finalist for the Forrest Bassford Student Award. Underwood owns her own photography and design business.

Her career goals are to improve the use of digital and social media in agriculture and to one day become a faculty member at a junior college or university.
