| March 11, 2013 COPY BY: Rana McDonald, 806-651-2129, rmcdonald@wtamu.edu WTAMU Students Sweep 2013 ADDY Awards CANYON, Texas—West Texas A&M University swept the student division of the 2013 ADDY Awards, taking 19 trophies including Best of Show, Best Interactive and Outstanding Execution. The annual event was hosted Saturday, Feb. 14 by Amarillo’s American Advertising Federation to honor and recognize the best in creative advertising. Awards were presented to student winners and area advertising professionals. In student competition, Garrett King, a senior graphic design major from Amarillo, received Best of Show and a gold ADDY in the integrated campaigns/business to consumer category for his work on “Flycycle Factory.” King also received Outstanding Execution and a gold ADDY in the same category for his project titled “Project Don’t Neglect—Internet Security.” The same category also earned King a silver ADDY for “The Remnant Trust Posters.” He also won a silver in the elements of advertising/visual cinematography category for “Inkslingers Tribute—Vermillion.” Drake Taylor, a senior graphic design major from Amarillo, won Best Interactive in the elements of advertising/digital creative technology category for “WTAMU Interactive Map.” Other WTAMU students bringing home ADDY awards are listed by hometown, classification, major and award.
